The anomaly I encountered was that some of the deleted references were showing up, despite being disabled as well as undeleted. Keep going until you encounter the crash again. Disable all your mods, then re-enable them one by one, starting from the ones you want to use the most. That way you know what's causing it, and you can decide then if you want to keep it. As for the random crashes, the only other random crash I've experienced is every once in a while it will crash when I'm trying to quick save. Just install it, and then curse Microsoft for Windows 8, poor portability, and whatever else you feel like venting about. So its best to check all of your mods after applying something like that.
